At Varian Semiconductor Equipment Associates (VSEA), we believe our online visitors have a right to know our practices regarding the information we may collect when you visit our Web sites and what type of information is collected. While VSEA does not generally require that you provide us with personally identifiable information in order to visit and use the VSEA sites, please note that in order to enter certain areas, it will be necessary for you to provide this information. Information Gathered at our Sites

For each visitor to a VSEA Web site, our web server automatically recognizes, collects and/or stores information such as the visitor's IP address or fully qualified domain name, browser type and version, the path you take through our site, the pages you visit, as well as any referring sites. VSEA may use several technologies to accomplish this, such as general web logging, use of cookies, or other technology, in order to analyze this data for trends and statistics.

VSEA may ask you to provide "personal information", meaning individually identifiable information such as your email address, name, mailing address, telephone number, social security number, credit card number, or persistent identifier (such as a customer number) which is associated with individually identifiable information, or to fill out a registration, or to order products and services using these sites. VSEA may combine the information you provide on our Web sites with information we may collect offline from you or from third parties so that we can more effectively tailor our sites, services and offerings to you.

VSEA will not share the personal information you provide on the VSEA Web sites with any other parties, except (a) as may be permitted or required by law or court order, (b) to persons or companies with whom Varian Semiconductor contracts to carry out the operations of the site or our business, or (c) under difficult circumstances to protect the personal safety or property of our users, the public or ourselves.

Use of Cookies

When you visit VSEA’s web sites, we use an industry-wide technology called "cookies", which stores certain information on your computer and which will allow us to customize your experience to better match your interests and preferences or to simply facilitate your signing in to use the services. Security

In our vShop and Supplier Portal sites, visitors must electronically sign in to use the site. The security of your transaction is very important to us, so we've taken every effort to ensure that your company/personal information is secure. On these sites, VSEA uses secure server software over a Secure Socket Layer (SSL) line, the latest technology to protect your personal information. SSL is the industry standard and among the best software available today for secure commerce transactions. It encrypts all of your personal information so that the information cannot be read as it travels over the Internet. We also use a Verisign Digital ID to further enable secure transactions for our customers, suppliers and partners.

Opt-Out

VSEA provides web site visitors the opportunity to opt-out of receiving communications from us at the point where we request information about you. During registration, you can choose not to receive our electronic confirmations or special promotions via eMail.

Correct/update policy

VSEA provides you with an opportunity to correct or change the information collected during registration. Due to the sensitive nature of the information on vShop, your organization's shipping and billing addresses can only be amended by calling the customer care center at 1-800-344-1111. This will enable proper verification of identity prior to any changes being made.
