| The SAP Basis Systems Administrator will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and supporting Varian Semiconductor’s enterprise resource planning software. This person will work closely with the Internal and Outsourced UNIX systems administrators, database administrators, ERP security administrators, and network administrators to deliver a complete technical support solution for the ERP software. In addition, will be responsible for implementing new projects as well as sharing responsibilities for the on-going operational support of production ERP applications. This position will be directly involved in an upgrade of the existing SAP 4.6C environment to a SAP ECC 6.0 infrastructure
DESCRIPTION OF POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Monitors ERP system performance and assists in tuning system parameters as needed.
- Analyzes SAP module performance; makes recommendations and performs corrective actions.
- Configures system / client copies between Dev, QA and PRO environments as necessary.
·- Performs software upgrades and installations, supports testing, and ensures consistency of application.
- Will be responsible for ERP transports.
- Ensures system backups are regularly and consistently available.
- Creates and maintains ERP print devices and / or connections to output management systems.
- Utilizes SAP’s online knowledge base and problem reporting tool to find solutions to problems, report new problems, and work with the ERP vendors support consultant to resolve these problems. Applies fixes to the ERP system as instructed.
- Will backup ERP Security Analyst in role development and redesign and will troubleshoot security issues and report to Security Analyst.
- Will be backup for user account administration.
- Will be responsible for OSS note application, OSS connections and OSS user administration.
- Creates and maintains administrative jobs: spool reorgs, job log reorgs, database statistics updates, etc. and monitors job and schedules execution.
- Provides after hours systems support when needed.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Greater than 2 years experience in SAP Basis Administration on AIX / Linux
- Broad knowledge of operating systems, databases, and networks
- SAP 4.6C/ECC 6.0 Knowledge, Migration experience a plus
- IBM Tivoli Storage Manager TDP experience a plus
- Demonstrated commitment to root cause analysis
- Ability to multitask effectively
- Strong customer focus & management of client expectations
- Self starter and goal oriented
- Good organization, communication, and interpersonal skills. Strong documentation skills a requirement.
- BS degree preferably in Computer Information or equivalent work experience.
- Unix experience, preferably AIX
- Oracle experience a plus
- Project management experience a plus
- Previous IT technical management experience preferred. |
